Woodson High won three awards, and Fairfax, Paul VI and Robinson Secondary, one each, at Sunday night’s 13th annual Cappie Awards at The Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C.

On June 6, Woodson High School’s art students of all grades showcased their artwork for the community at the Woodson’s annual end-of-the-year Art Show. Senior art students enjoyed their last high school art show, while others experienced their first public showing.

Both Woodson and Fairfax High have received Cappie nominations for their spring, theatrical productions. The winners will be revealed during the June 10 Cappies Gala at The Kennedy Center.

The Cappie nominations for outstanding high-school theater were just announced and, all together, Robinson, Woodson, Paul VI and Fairfax received 29 nominations. The awards to the winners will be presented Sunday, June 10, at the annual Cappies Gala at The Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C.

Hub Theatre Receives Helen Hayes Award
At the 28th Annual Helen Hayes Awards presented on April 23, the 2012 Charles MacArthur Award for Outstanding New Play was received by Marc Acito for his "Birds of a Feather." The play recounts the story of two Central Park Zoo penguins, Roy and Silo, who raised a chick together. Inspiration for the play came from the children's book "And Tango Make Three" by Peter Parnell and Justin Richardson in which Roy and Silo appeared.
