At first glance, a beer festival with a Disney theme may seem a bit odd. But in Fairfax City, it makes perfect sense because the suds vendors will be in one area, and children’s activities in another. The City’s annual Beer in the ’Burbs celebration is set for Saturday, June 3, from 2-6 p.m., in Old Town Square, 10415 North St.

Besides featuring more than 15 Virginia craft breweries – including some from Fairfax City – this free, family-friendly event will also offer food trucks, live music and fun for all. Beer will cost $3 for a 3.5-oz. taster and $8 for a 16-ounce cup.

Fairfax City breweries participating will be Audacious Aleworks, Chubby Squirrel and Ornery. Hailing from Chantilly will be Ono Brewing Co., and Honor Brewing Co. will come from Fairfax (just outside the City). Also there will be Lazy Dog, with locations in Chantilly and Fair Oaks, plus Caboose Brewing, which is in both Vienna and the Mosaic District.

Children’s entertainment will include visits from princess characters, from 2:30-4:30 p.m., and a Disney singalong band, The Little Mermen, from 3:30-6 p.m.
