Little League Opening Day Celebration

Play ball!

Play ball!

For the first time since 2019, the Chantilly Youth Association Little League (CYALL) hosted an Opening Day celebration at Preston Pierce Field in Chantilly on April 24 to honor its 53rd season.  Sean Collins, the new CYA Little League President, presided over the day’s festivities.

The parade of teams was welcomed onto the field by members of the Chantilly and Oakton high school baseball teams.

Alex Robbins, Director of Community Relations for the Washington Nationals was a guest speaker. Robbins offered the players words of advice from Nationals Manager Dave Martinez and delighted the crowd by announcing that the CYA Little League will host a visit from a Washington Nationals player in June.

Leslie Lesch from Baseball for a Better Life Fund announced plans for the John Lesch Batting Pavilion at Chantilly Park. The fund was established in memory of John Lesch, who volunteered for over 20 years in CYA Little League but lost his battle with cancer in 2019. Donations are being accepted for the project:

It was a beautiful day to celebrate the start of the spring baseball season!
