On Feb. 11, Olivia Johann, a student at Thomas Jefferson High School of Science and Technology and resident of Centreville, will compete on the oboe as one of eight finalists for "The President's Own" U.S. Marine Band Concerto Competition for High School Students in Washington, D.C. The competition finals recital will take place Saturday, Feb. 11 at 2 p.m., and will stream live at www.marineband.marines.mil and www.youtube.com/usmarineband. Following the recital, the judges will deliberate and name a winner who will receive a $2,500 scholarship from the Marine Corps Heritage Foundation as well as the opportunity to perform their solo with "The President's Own" United States Marine Band on April 9.
