Woodson Student Named Photography Finalist in YoungArts Foundation Competition

Rebeca Posadas-Nava, a student at Woodson High School, has been named a 2016 National YoungArts Foundation finalist in photography. She is one of 165 finalists selected from more than 12,000 applicants in the national competition that includes submissions in the literary, visual, design, and performing arts.

As a finalist, Posadas-Nava has been invited to National YoungArts Week in Miami in January, where she will take master classes and workshops with internationally renowned leaders. The finalists’ works will be further adjudicated to determine additional award levels that range from $1,000 to $10,000. Her photography will be featured at an art, design, and photography exhibition at the YoungArts Gallery.

Finalists are eligible to become U.S. Presidential Scholars in the Arts; YoungArts nominates 60 winners to the White House-appointed Commission on Presidential Scholars, 20 of whom are selected as U.S. Presidential Scholars in the Arts.
